Teenage Dream

Without accepting the fact that everything changes, we cannot find perfect composure. But unfortunately, although it is true, it is difficult for us to accept it. Because we cannot accept the truth of transience, we suffer.
Shunryu Suzuki

I’m sure almost all of us teens spend our teenage lives day dreaming about the ‘Perfect Future’ and how everything will go smoothly. We believe that the guy we are with is our prince charming and that we’d get married. We believe that we would get the perfect job, our dream house, car etc. We listen to songs about the happy ever after, girls specially (me included) listen to Taylor swift and singers like her who sing about ‘Romeo and Juliet’

What we fail to realize is that when we are teens, our priorities are different. they are very limited and vague. We believe that everything happens at the click of our fingers. But once we grown up, our priorities change. We evolve as people, and the more of the ‘Big, Bad, World’ we see, the more we realize how stupid we were to have thought that all our dreams would come true. Not that dreams don’t come true, they do, but they are not as effortless as we make them same to be.

What we should realize is that the person we may be dating, would change his/her priorities in the next few years, In high school, they would probably say that they’ll get married and blah blah, but once they grow up, such promises don’t matter anymore. Its not their fault, its not anybody’s fault. As we grow up, we become more curious and more aware of new things that may have seemed as being out of our realm, but when we do have the liberty of choosing those new things, our priorities automatically change. As we grow older, we are forced to make more decisions and this may affect the things that you may have prioritized before. We should realize that we wouldn’t get our perfect jobs the minute you graduate, as there are people with years of experience who still fail to find a job. But what we should ALWAYS, and I repeat ALWAYS remember is to NEVER GIVE UP, because  once you do that then you are left with nothing. You’ll just be a lost soul in the crowd. We should always keep our ambitions high, but only if you are ready to work for them. Don’t expect everything to just fall in place, like the ‘Big, Bang Theory’, because, trust me, that’s not going to happen. Work towards your dreams and know that 5 years down the line, you may not be the same person that you are today so choose wisely and take some risks once in a while. And the most important thing, ‘Enjoy every moment’ cause, you might not get it back.

Life is like dancing. If we have a big floor, many people will dance. Some will get angry when the rhythm changes. But life is changing all the time.
